Twelve Held, One Firearm, Ammunition And Cannabis Seized

Three men were arrested and a submachine gun and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Southern Division, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Barrackpore district yesterday morning.

Officers conducted the exercise around 4:40am on Saturday 12th April, 2025, during which they proceeded to the Barrackpore home of a 37-year-old suspect.

A search of the house resulted in the discovery of one MAC 10 submachine gun and a total of 21 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Three male suspects, ages 31 to 37, who were in the house at the time of the search, were arrested in connection with the find.

They are expected to be charged with Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

The exercise was conducted by Sgt. (Ag.) Seecharan, Cpl (Ag.) Huggins and PCs Marcus, Ramsaroop, Laloo and Adams, of the Southern Division.

Meanwhile, in a separate anti-crime operation also conducted in the Southern Division between 1pm and 10pm yesterday, officers of the Southern Division Task Force, arrested eight persons for Possession of Cannabis.

A brown box containing 13 rounds of ammunition was also found in the San Fernando district during the exercise.

The operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Kirk, Supt. Singh, ASP Ramsaran, Insp. Wilkinson and Sgt. Steele.

And one person was arrested, quantities of ammunition seized and one stolen vehicle recovered by officers of the Port of Spain Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in several districts yesterday.

Officers conducted the exercise between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, on Saturday 12th April, 2025, during which they carried out comprehensive searches at East Dry River, Laventille, Belmont and downtown Port of Spain.

The searches resulted in the discovery of 17 rounds of assorted ammunition, the recovery of one silver coloured Nissan Note motor vehicle which had been reported stolen and the arrest of one individual for Obscene Language, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Behaviour.

The exercises were spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Thom, Supts. Nicholls and Jankie, ASP Soodeen, Insp. Durga and supervised by Sgts. Guerra and Sookhoo.
