A fire broke out at Mary Care Centre in Woodbrook on Wednesday night, leaving children and their caregivers displaced.
The Mary Care Centre, a home for pregnant teenage girls and their babies, was occupied by four teenagers and two toddlers.
Firefighters at the Wrightson Road Fire Station responded to the fire at Gallus Street at around 10:50pm. When the officers arrived, the occupants of the home had evacuated the building safely. A caretaker told the police she heard the smoke alarm and noticed smoke coming from the kitchen area.
The estimated value of damage is yet to be ascertained.
Members of the home are calling on the public to assist in providing clothing for the children, along with financial contributions, as they begin figuring the way forward.
