Officials Visit Crash Site After PBR Collision Involving Schoolchildren

Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander and Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin visited the scene of the road traffic accident involving a garbage truck and a maxi taxi early this morning in the Arima district.

Around 7:50am a garbage truck driven by 47-year-old Kerwyn Brown, an employee of Bartholomew Transport Company Limited, was proceeding west along the Priority Bus Route (PBR).

On reaching the intersection, the driver signalled to turn north. At the same time, a 25-seater maxi taxi driven by 39-year-old Jenna Galindo, proceeding in the same direction, collided with the garbage truck. The maxi taxi subsequently lost control and crashed into a light pole on the northern side of the roadway.

Five individuals in the maxi taxi, including the driver and four passengers—two of whom were students of El Dorado East Secondary School—sustained minor to moderate injuries.
