Ministers Hold High Level Meeting With CAF

On July 7th, 2025, key discussions took place at the Ministry of Housing’s Head Office as Government Ministers met with representatives of the CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. The meeting was aimed at exploring opportunities for strategic collaboration and financing to support national housing development priorities.

In attendance were Dr. the Hon. David Lee, Minister of Housing; Senator Dr. the Hon. Kennedy Swaratsingh, Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development and Minister in the Ministry of Finance; Senator the Hon. Anil Roberts and Senator the Hon. Phillip Alexander, both Ministers in the Ministry of Housing.

Representing CAF were Mr. Bernardo Requena, CAF’s Director Representative in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Ms. Stephanie Ledesma, Principal Executive; and Ms. Alyssa Ali, CAF Consultant.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying areas where CAF can play a pivotal role as a development partner—particularly through financing and technical support for key infrastructure projects. High on the agenda was the potential for CAF to assist in funding housing and urban renewal initiatives that will directly benefit the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

Both parties explored opportunities for joint ventures and long-term partnerships that align with the Government’s agenda for inclusive development, sustainable housing, and improved urban infrastructure.

This engagement reflects the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to expand its network of international partners and mobilize additional funding sources to meet the growing demands for affordable housing and community development across the country.
