With 25 activities and over 150 events, CARIFESTA XV is set to be an immersive experience for Caribbean arts and culture.
Barbados is set to play host for the 10-day festival from August 22nd to 31st, and Director of Barbados Tourism Marketing Incorporated (BTMI), Graham Clarke, said his country is ready to welcome not only the Caribbean but the world.
“Twenty-five countries are going to be joining us for that exposition and that expedition that we are going on to celebrate the excellence of Caribbean culture. There’ll be folks coming from Ghana, from Brazil, from Colombia, from Cuba, and, of course, all of our dear friends and neighbours within the CARICOM region.”
The Caribbean Festival of Arts is typically held every two years and will return this year for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Trinidad and Tobago was the last host in 2019.
Mr. Clarke said the event is a much-needed opportunity for creators to showcase the best of Caribbean culture.
“This is really an opportunity after COVID to really exhale, to breathe, and to, yes, just to exhibit that potential that has been lying a little dormant within all of us.”
