Police and prison officials are searching for a convicted robber who escaped from the Youth Training Rehabilitation Centre in Arouca on Tuesday.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service, 28-year-old Abraham Briggs escaped around 5pm on Tuesday while working at the rehabilitation facility. The Prison Service Emergency Response Unit and Arouca Police launched an immediate search of the surrounding areas after the alarm was raised. However, they have not been able to locate him.
The Golden Grove Prison inmate is currently serving a six-year sentence for robbery with aggravation and is scheduled for release in March 2029.
Abraham Briggs is described as having a brown complexion and a muscular build, with two distinctive tattoos: “KAB” on his right arm and a peace symbol on his left hand. He also has a long scar on his left foot.
Authorities warn Briggs, whose last known address was Sangre Grande, is considered armed and dangerous.
