In an effort to foster a spirit of community sharing and reuse while promoting sustainability and literacy support, the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS) will host its third School Book Exchange Programme on Saturday July 26th, 2025 from 9am to 1pm at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago, 23 Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.
The public is invited to participate in this programme by exchanging their child’s gently used school books for another. Books will be collected in advance at the National Library, Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. For each book donated, participants will receive one redeemable ticket, which must be presented on the day of the event, to complete the exchange.
Primary, Secondary and Tertiary level school books published within the last 10 years will be accepted to ensure that the educational material is current and aligns with schools’ curriculum.
The initiative aims to provide parents and guardians with an opportunity to prepare for the new school term without bearing the full financial burden of purchasing all the required school books for their children.
After the event, remaining books will be distributed to NALIS’ Educational Library Services Division (ELSD). This division is responsible for strategic, tactic and operational services to all libraries under the remit of the Ministry of Education.
