OSHA Launches Probe Into RAMCO Fire

The Occupational Safety and Health Agency says it is actively investigating the industrial incident at the RAMCO Industries San Fernando Compound.

In a statement on Friday, OSHA said it became aware of an explosion and subsequent fire at the facility’s loading bay area around 7:05pm on Thursday.

The agency was informed that emergency services responded swiftly to contain the blaze and transported four injured employees to the San Fernando General Hospital.

OSHA noted that, as the national regulatory body responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety and health at workplaces across Trinidad and Tobago, it has initiated a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

It says inspectors have been deployed to the site and have already begun conducting interviews, reviewing site documentation, and carrying out inspections.
