Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Farley Augustine, is pleased with the United National Congress’ performance in its first 100 days in government.
Speaking to the media at a recent event, Mr. Augustine commended the Government’s approach to inclusion.
“I do like that they are engaging in consultations so early on. I hope that the consultations result in the government actually listening to people because very often we have these consultations, and sometimes nothing comes out of it. We certainly have to work harder at treating with the issue of crime, you know, that’s plaguing all of us, but I mean, 100 days really can’t solve our problem with crime. That will be foolhardy to think that that is a possibility.”
He was also pleased with the Prime Minister and the Government’s assertiveness and confidence in their decisions.
“I would want to see more before we could make a judgement in terms of good, bad or indifferent, but certainly if they continue to apply such assertiveness with their manifesto promises, then the country will benefit insofar as receiving delivery on promises made.”
Mr. Augustine said the Assembly looks forward to the budget presentation in September.
