Dr. Neil Parsan has been appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations, New York.
The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Sean Sobers, presented the Instrument of Appointment on behalf of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, to Dr. Neil Parsan, during a brief ceremony held on August 6th, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Ambassador Parsan officially assumed duties at the Permanent Mission of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations, New York, on 11th August, 2025. The jurisdiction of the Permanent Mission includes United Nations organisations, where Trinidad and Tobago actively advances its positions on matters of international peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, and other priority areas.
A distinguished diplomat and strategist, Dr. Parsan previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Trinidad and Tobago to the United States of America, the United Mexican States, and the Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS). He also held the post of Executive Secretary for Integral Development at the OAS, where he led numerous high impact initiatives across the Western Hemisphere, focusing on sustainable development, innovation in education, public sector reform, and regional cooperation.
Dr. Parsan brings to this appointment a wealth of experience in international diplomacy, global policy development, and public-private partnerships. He is also the recipient of several awards and commendations for his contributions to diplomacy, education, and humanitarian efforts.
