Known as the largest Divali celebration outside of India, the 2025 NCIC Divali Nagar will lend its stage to young and upcoming talent, focusing on inclusivity and social harmony.
The cultural extravaganza attracts hundreds of thousands of patrons each year, and according to President of the National Council of Indian Culture, Surujdeo Mangaroo, the non-religious theme for this year’s Divali Nagar – ‘Welfare of the World’ – represents unity and togetherness.
“Lokasamgraha means that our traditions are not only about personal celebration but also about collective responsibility. It is a call to foster unity, peace, and well-being across communities, transcending boundaries of culture, race, and creed. As we come together to honour the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil, we also embrace the opportunity to work towards the greater good of society.”
There will be no competitions this year. Instead, there will be presentations by emerging superstars, showcasing instrumentalists, vocalists, and young dancers in a special night of performance.
Mr. Mangaroo also shared some of the featured speakers scheduled for the first four days of the event.
“Our chief guest this year for Divali Nagar Opening Night is the Minister of Finance, The Honourable Davendranath Tancoo. The second night our guest is The Honourable Barry Padarath, Minister of Public Utilities. The third night is the Mayor of Chaguanas. The fourth night is the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit.”
The President, Prime Minister, Minister of Tertiary Education, and Opposition Leader are also among those scheduled to bring remarks during the celebrations.
The event, which begins on October 11th and concludes on October 19th, will cost the organisation approximately $3.5 million.
A fireworks display will not be a part of this year’s celebration, and there will be a heightened police and security presence to ensure the safety of patrons and the free flow of traffic.
