Tobago’s history is rife with accounts of how the island was embroiled in battles as the various colonial powers contended for its control.
Reminders of those times still exist in the names of certain areas and the surviving, timeworn structures. Fort Bennett in Black Rock is one such vestige, once poised to defend the nearby bay from invaders, now a picturesque spot we can appreciate for very different reasons in these peaceful times.
