Heavy Rain Triggers Widespread Flooding Across Trinidad

Several parts of Trinidad were impacted by flooding on Monday, after hours of heavy rainfall.

Floodwaters caused major disruptions in Port of Spain, where sections of Lower Edward and Richmond Streets were submerged. Similarly, along Wrightson Road and South Quay, motorists abandoned vehicles as the water levels rose rapidly.

South Trinidad was also affected. Among the areas most impacted were Debe and Penal, La Romaine, and Union Hall.

Officials continue to advise drivers to avoid flooded roads, especially during or after heavy showers. If you live in an area prone to flooding, stay alert, monitor weather updates, and be prepared to move to higher ground if needed. Members of the public are also reminded to be cautious of slippery surfaces and sudden water flows.
