Trinidad and Tobago now joins a growing coalition of forward-thinking nations, including Bangladesh, Estonia, Jamaica, Malawi, Norway, Singapore, and Zambia.
Speaking at the 50-in-5 Milestone Event on Monday, 22nd September 2025, Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, stated:
“The priorities of Trinidad and Tobago’s digital transformation are clear: all government services online, efficiency and cost savings in public administration, and the creation of a truly digital nation.”
As part of this initiative, Trinidad and Tobago is exploring the implementation of several key DPI components, including:
A National Digital Identity System to provide citizens with secure access to government services online;
An e-Government Portal to streamline access to public services and application submissions;
A Digital Payment System to enable electronic transactions for taxes and government services.
