Three firearms were seized by officers during ongoing State of Emergency operations in the Northern, Western, and Port of Spain Divisions yesterday.
In the Northern Division, officers of the Arima Intelligence/Operations Unit conducted an exercise between 5pm and 8pm on Monday 22nd September, 2025.
During the exercise, the party of officers proceeded to a bushy area in the Arouca district where they conducted a comprehensive search which resulted in the discovery of one pistol loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition.
The operation was coordinated by ACP Singh, W/Snr. Supt. Maynard-Wilson, Supt. Mc Kenzie, ASP Pitt, ASP Ablacksingh, ASP Jones and Insp. Estrada.
In the Western Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 6pm and 10pm, during which they proceeded to the Cocorite district, where they observed three men sitting in a track.
As the officers approached, the men ran off in different directions. A search of the area resulted in the discovery of one Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition in the track.
The exercise was sanctioned by Snr. Supt. Williams and spearheaded by W/ASP Aguilleira and Insp. Grant.
And in the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted an exercise between 8pm on Monday 22nd September, 2025 and 3am on Tuesday 23rd September, 2025.
During the exercise, the officers proceeded to the Carenage district, where they conducted a search in a manhole, where one submachine gun loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition was discovered.
Twenty-five persons who are suspected to be in the country illegally were also held during the operation.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Pierre, Snr. Supt. Ramnarine and Supt. Ramsook.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
