Police have arrested and detained two suspects in connection with a robbery with violence that occurred on the morning of Sunday September 21st 2025, in the Sangre Grande district.
Around 11:30am, a 53-year-old taxi driver of Guaico was operating his blue Honda Civic from the Ojoe Road taxi stand when he picked up three male passengers requesting transport to Cyprus Road, Picton Road Extension.
Upon reaching the location, one of the suspects, seated behind the victim, placed him in a headlock and began choking him. During the struggle, another suspect struck the victim across the face and stole approximately $100 from his possession. The victim managed to escape the vehicle, at which point one of the suspects took control of the vehicle and drove off in a westerly direction along Cyprus Road.
Police were contacted and officers from the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF), along with CID officers responded promptly. The stolen vehicle was later discovered abandoned at Turure Cemetery and processed by CSI personnel.
Following swift investigative efforts, two male suspects, 18 and 19 years old, both of Sangre Grande, were arrested later the same day and are currently in custody at the Sangre Grande Police Station pending further enquiries.
Investigations are ongoing as officers continue to pursue the third suspect involved in the incident.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) remains committed to ensuring public safety and urges anyone with information regarding this matter to contact the Sangre Grande Police Station or call 999, 555, or Crime Stoppers.
