T&T Officials Engage In Strategic Talks At UN General Assembly

As the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly commenced on Monday, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers, and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Nicholas Morris, engaged in a series of high-level meetings.

Minister Sobers delivered his inaugural address to the General Assembly at the High-Level Meeting marking the 30th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women. He highlighted Trinidad and Tobago’s continued efforts to advance gender equality and empower women and girls, in keeping with the landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

Minister Sobers also participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, where he discussed ways to strengthen dialogue and cooperation among Member States.

Parliamentary Secretary Morris also participated in several of the day’s meetings. Key among these engagements was the High-Level Session for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
