PM Expresses ‘Full Confidence’ In Homeland Security Minister, Rejects Housing Minister’s Comments On Venezuela

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says she has “full confidence” in the Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, in light of recent allegations.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday evening, she said the Minister will give his explanation soon.

“I have seen letters, and I suppose you always see them in due course. He will give his explanation, but in the face of the documents that have come before my eyes, I have full confidence in the Honourable Minister of Homeland Security.”

Meanwhile, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said she’s told one of her Ministers to “stay in his zone.”

Her statement comes in the wake of remarks made by Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Phillip Edward Alexander, and Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.

“He was totally out of line. I do not share his views. I have since told him he needs to stay in his zone. Let’s hope that he complies. But the Cabinet, my Government, we do not share the views expressed by that Honourable Minister.”
