The government plans to bring the Stand Your Ground legislation to Parliament before the end of the year.
The assurance came from the Minister of Justice and Minister in the Office of the Attorney General, Devesh Maharaj, who noted that several public consultations were held to help shape the draft law.
He gave an update while speaking to the media during a tour facilitated by the Water and Sewerage Authority in Mt. D’or on Monday.
“As you know, we had extensive consultations throughout the country. People have sent a lot of feedback so we are currently processing that feedback to make sure that when we produce the final form of the legislation it would have taken into account everybody’s concern. So certainly before the end of the year. But we have done extensive consultation, as you would readily appreciate.”
