THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine met yesterday with officials of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) to address the ongoing water shortage, with a focus on communities in Tobago West.
WASA confirmed that immediate relief measures are underway, including plans to redirect water from other supply zones to support residents in South West Tobago. The Authority began publishing temporary supply schedules from today, with weekly updates. Additionally, special schedules will be introduced during the Carnival season to ensure festivities are not disrupted by water shortages.
Mr. Augustine underscored the importance of both short-term and long-term solutions, noting that alternative methods of improving Tobago’s water supply must also be explored.
Following the meeting, the Chief Secretary joined WASA executives and Member of Parliament for Tobago West, Joel Sampson, on a site visit to Courland River to assess the ongoing challenges of low water flows.
