Major Drug Bust: Officers Recover Over $300 Million In Narcotics

The Police Service has scored a big win against crime. Officers found and seized over $314 million worth of illegal drugs in two days of operations in South Trinidad.

On Tuesday, September 30th, and Wednesday, October 1st, police carried out two major missions to stop a drug trafficking group.

In the first operation, police stopped a white car in Fyzabad. Inside the trunk, they discovered over 200 kilogrammes of high-grade marijuana, worth more than $22 million. One suspect was arrested.

The following day, officers searched a forested area in Palo Seco. There, they found a giant stash of drugs hidden in crocus bags. The haul included over 1,100 kilogrammes of marijuana and more than 117 kilogrammes of cocaine. Together, that discovery was worth about $292 million.

In total, across the two days, police seized narcotics worth more than $314 million.
