CARICOM Supports UNSC Resolution On Haiti

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has commended efforts made by the United Nations Security Council to resolve gang violence and foster public security for the citizens of Haiti.

On Wednesday, CARICOM expressed support for the UNSC’s new anti-crime initiative.

It acknowledged the transformation of the Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti into a Gang Suppression Force (GSF) for a period of 12 months. After being backed by 12 countries, the resolution was adopted.

The GSF is expected to have over 5,000 personnel, who will operate in close coordination with the Haitian National Police and Armed Forces.
