Tobago Police Make Strong Statement Against School Violence As 10 Face Charges

Ten minors are currently facing charges for Assault by Beating arising from incidents of school-related violence in Tobago.

Following a thorough investigation by PC Edwards of the Scarborough Police Station, five students were charged in connection with an incident that occurred on 20th May, 2025.

According to reports, the victim, a student, was seated in a classroom when he was attacked by another student and struck several times about the head. Later that day, when the victim’s father and sister arrived to collect him, they were also assaulted by a group of four students between the ages of 13 to17 years-old.

The three victims subsequently made a report at the Scarborough Police Station, which led to an investigation. As a result, five students were charged for Assault by Beating on 3rd November, 2025.

This comes in addition to five other students who are also facing similar charges in relation to an ambush attack on a student at Shaw Park Grounds.

These charges underscore the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s (TTPS)continued commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to school violence and its determination to ensure that schools remain safe spaces for learning and development.
