Tobago’s war veterans were honoured on Sunday with the annual Remembrance Day wreath-laying ceremony held at James Park in Scarborough.
This year’s programme saw an abridged version, with the elimination of the parade and a reduction in the number of wreaths laid. However, the solemn mood remained in remembrance of those who served in World War I and World War II.
Three wreaths were laid — firstly by Chief Secretary Farley Augustine. A representative of the Chief of Defence Staff laid the second, followed by the Vice-President of the Trinidad and Tobago Ex-Servicemen’s League.
For another year, Tobago’s last remaining war veteran, 99-year-old Les Coteaux resident Eman Legall, was honoured during a reception at the Assembly Legislature.
