Three Arrested, Cannabis Seized in Central and Western Divisions

Police arrested three persons and seized quantities of cocaine and cannabis during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Central, North Central and Western Divisions yesterday.

Around 11:30am on Monday November 10th, 2025, officers of the Central Division Task Force proceeded to Greig Street, Balmain, Couva, an area known for the sale of narcotics. Officers conducted a search on a 32-year-old man and discovered a cigarette pack containing cocaine in his pants pocket, along with additional foil paper also containing cocaine weighing approximately 30 grammes. Officers arrested the man for Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

During the same operation, officers observed another man seated on a concrete brick who, upon seeing the approaching police, threw a transparent plastic bag over a fence. Officers recovered the bag, which contained a quantity of cocaine. Officers arrested the 45-year-old man for Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Meanwhile, the North Central Division Task Force-West conducted an Operation Trident roving exercise between 10am and 1pm.

During the exercise, officers arrested a 31-year-old man for Possession of Cannabis weighing 121.6 grammes. This operation included officers under the supervision of ACP Singh and Senior Superintendent Gift.

In a separate incident, between 4pm and 8pm, officers of the Western Division Gang and Intelligence Unit (WDGIU) conducted an Operation Trident anti-crime exercise, during which time they patrolled the West End, St. James, Carenage and Maraval Police Districts, paying particular attention to drug blocks located at Cocojah.

During the exercise, officers arrested a priority offender relative to an outstanding warrant. Officers also seized a quantity of cannabis weighing 363 grammes. This operation included officers under the supervision of Senior Superintendent Williams.

Investigations are continuing.
