T&T To Ghana Inaugural Flight Set For 2026

Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism Satyakama Maharaj has announced that Trinidad and Tobago will soon have regular flights to Ghana.

At Thursday’s Post Cabinet Media Briefing, Minister Maharaj said the inaugural flight is set to take place in early 2026.

“Initially, we are looking at an Ethiopian airline charter plane in consultation with the people from Ghana. Going to Ghana now takes two days. Republic Bank has around 40 branches in Ghana, and they always are very concerned when they have to go and visit, because that two-day trip is very expensive, and it is also time-consuming and they are very pleased. Everyone is pleased that we are exploring the opening up of the African market.”

Minister Maharaj said, based on feedback, the flights to Ghana could be chartered regularly.

“But once we test it, and people see that it can be a once-a-week flight, we can probably work with the Minister of Transport and engage him, and he can engage the relevant parties to make it a regular flight. We are definitely serious about opening up the African market to our manufacturers, and to create a gateway for tourism.”
