Film And TV Pioneer Danielle Dieffenthaller Dies

Television producer and filmmaker Danielle Dieffenthaller has died…

One of her brothers, Kes Dieffenthaller, confirmed the news of her passing via his Instagram account.

Kes Dieffenthaller, one of the brothers of Danielle Dieffenthaller, posted an image of his sister with the caption, “We love you Danny, Rest in Eternal peace, our beloved sister” on Saturday evening… Since then, many have taken to social media to offer their condolences…

She was diagnosed with stage five renal failure in 2018 and had been on dialysis until the time of her passing.

Media veteran Dominic Kalipersad shared that Danielle began her career at Trinidad and Tobago Television, where she worked in the Drama Production Department with producer Horace James.

After TTT and a stint in London with Channel 4, she gained prominence through shows like No Boundaries.

While at the production house Banyan Ltd, she was one of only two local crew members to record footage during the 1990 attempted coup in Port-of-Spain.

As CEO of her production company Earth TV Ltd, she was the main force behind the long-running soap opera Westwood Park (1997–2004) and the environmental series ‘Ecowatch’.

He shared that she also produced and directed some of the first modern music videos for Caribbean artists, including Machel Montano & Xtatik’s “Big Truck” and 3canal’s “Blue”.

In 2019, she was recognised with the Arts and Letters Laureate of the Anthony N. Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence for her contributions to the region’s film industry.
