Suspect Fatally Shot During Police Exercise In Central Division

One man was killed, and two firearms and a quantity of ammunition were seized following a police-involved shooting incident which occurred in the Central Division on Saturday.

During an exercise led by Task Force officers of the Central Division, Areas North and South, assisted by personnel from the Air Support and Canine Units, officers proceeded to the home of a 38-year-old suspect.

They allegedly found him inside the structure, armed with a gun.

Officers claim the suspect pointed the gun in their direction, and, in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, they discharged their service-issued weapons at the suspect.

The suspect was injured during the incident and taken to the hospital for treatment, where he later passed away.

He has since been identified as Trevon Cumberbatch of Kelly Village.

One Glock 17 pistol and a magazine containing a quantity of ammunition were also recovered from the scene.
