In support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the Special Victims Department of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service conducted a major anti-crime intervention which led to the arrest of eight persons this week.
According to police, the exercises focused on the clearance of outstanding investigations related to sexual violence, domestic abuse, and serious offences against vulnerable persons.
The initiative resulted in eight arrests and uncovered 14 outstanding offences, including attempted murder, rape, sexual penetration, grievous sexual assault, kidnapping, and domestic violence-related crimes.
The 16 Days of Activism is observed annually from November 25th to December 10th.
