Planning Ministry Promotes Literacy For Special Needs Students

The Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development continues to promote literacy as a cornerstone of national development well beyond the annual observance of International Literacy Day.

Recognising literacy as a pathway to freedom, empowerment, and equal opportunity, the Ministry remains committed to supporting initiatives that uplift individuals of all abilities. As part of this ongoing commitment, staff of the Ministry and its affiliated agencies recently organised a book drive aimed at supporting persons with diverse learning needs. Through collective effort and generous participation, a wide range of books was gathered to benefit those who require additional support in their educational journey.

The donated books were presented to Goodwill Industries of the West Indies, an organisation dedicated to the education, training, and empowerment of persons with physical and intellectual disabilities. This partnership highlights the Ministry’s belief that literacy must be accessible to all citizens and reflects its dedication to fostering an inclusive, equitable society where every individual is given the tools to thrive.

By championing literacy in practical and meaningful ways, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to advancing human rights, promoting social inclusion, and building a more informed and compassionate nation.
