Western Division And St. Joseph Police Arrest Multiple Suspects, Seize Ammunition And Narcotics During Anti-Crime Operations

Two major anti-crime operations conducted over the weekend by officers of the Western Division Task Force (WDTF) and the St. Joseph Police Station District yielded multiple arrests and seizure of narcotics and ammunition.

Officers of the Western Division Task Force conducted Operation Trident, sanctioned by Senior Superintendent Williams and led by W/Asp Aguilleira. The exercise resulted in three arrests and the seizure of ammunition and illegal drugs.

During foot patrol along a track off Waterhole Road, Cocorite, officers observed an 18-year-old suspect discarding a black bag which was later retrieved and found to contain 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition. He was arrested and taken to the St. James Police Station.

In a separate incident around 11:05 am, officers acting on intelligence information searched the home of a 30-year-old man of Pititlal Hill, Cocorite, under Regulation 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulation 2025. While no firearm was discovered, officers found 26.74 grammes of cocaine, resulting in his arrest.

Shortly after, around 11:25am, officers executed another search also under Regulation 12 at the residence of a 21-year-old suspect of Pititlal Hill. The search led to the seizure of 137.68 grammes of cannabis, the suspect was arrested.

Between 10:30pm on 30/11/2025 and 1:30am on 01/12/2025, a coordinated operation was conducted at the corner of Rapsey Street and Knowles Street, Curepe. The exercise was led by ACP Singh, Senior Superintendent Gift, and Superintendent Jaggernauth, and supervised by ASP Bharath, Ag/Sgt Baksh, and Ag/Sgt Charles.

The operation led to the detention of 28 illegal immigrants (22 males, 6 females). A search of the surrounding area assisted by the Police K-9 Unit led to the discovery of 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition concealed in a blue plastic crate. No arrests were made in connection with the ammunition, and investigations are ongoing.

Fourteen individuals were served detention orders, while the remainder are being held pending instructions from Immigration authorities. The female detainees remain in custody at the St. Joseph Police Station.

The operation was supported by the NCDTF East and West, IATF, NOTF, K-9 Unit, Telecom and Transport Branch, Immigration Division, the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, and St. Joseph charge room personnel.
