No Coalition, Just Unity: TPP And PDP Join Forces Against PNM Ahead Of THA Elections

Political Leader of the Tobago People’s Party, Farley Augustine, has made it clear that there is no coalition being formed with the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP), the party he was once a part of.

Speaking at a recent TPP meeting, Mr. Augustine expressed appreciation for the support from the PDP’s Leader, Watson Duke. However, he insisted that no coalition is being formed.

“There is no coalition, there is no partnership, there is no teaming up. Nobody ain’t giving up their party to join nobody. Nobody ain’t ask nobody to give up their party. No money ain’t pay to anybody because when we say Tobago is we, we don’t need money to rally around each other and be protective of each other and to be patriotic to this 116 square miles.”

At a Press Conference on Monday, Mr. Duke announced his party’s support for Mr. Augustine, and also stressed that the PDP is determined not to allow the People’s National Movement to return to office. Highlighting the PDP and TPP’s colours, he stated the PNM will be beaten black and blue in the January 12th Tobago House of Assembly election.

Mr. Augustine shared similar sentiments on the platform: “I want to publicly acknowledge his support. Notwithstanding the fact it is no secret that we have disagreed many times, and we have disagreed strongly many times, but the Tobago I know even when you and your brother disagree, you have a sibling or big cousin, and allyuh disagree at home, and allyuh go to school the next day and one person play mad and jump on one of allyuh, all the disagreement out the door and all ah we fighting against the one outsider. That is the Tobago spirit, and that is what we going to do in this election so PNM will see black and blue.”
