Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Barry Padarath, is supporting Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s recent statements on regional and national security, describing her approach as decisive and necessary.
In response to a statement made by former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, Minister Padarath says the Government stands firmly behind the Prime Minister, noting that her leadership reflects a clear and strategic response to the unique security challenges facing Trinidad and Tobago.
According to the Minister, the Prime Minister’s position underscores that diplomacy must go beyond rhetoric, and instead involve bold leadership, meaningful engagement, and strategic alliances that protect national interests.
He adds that the Government will not ignore the ongoing threats of gun trafficking, drug trafficking, and human trafficking within the region, emphasizing that regional cooperation must be effective and action-oriented.
