Tobago Welcomes Two Babies On New Year’s Day

The Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) has announced the birth of two babies on New Year’s Day, January 1st, 2026, at the Scarborough General Hospital.

The first baby of the year, a girl, was born to Ms. Kyla James of Canaan at 4:57am. Shortly after, at 5:26am, Ms. Keresha Wheeler of Mason Hall welcomed a baby boy. Both mothers and their newborns are reported to be in good health.

Present at the hospital were Dr. Faith Brebnor, Deputy Chief Secretary and Secretary of Health; Ms. Christlyn Moore, Chairman of the TRHA Board of Directors; Dr. Delmon Baker, Chief Executive Officer of the TRHA; Dr. Ainsley Waldron, Acting Medical Chief of Staff (SGH); and staff of the Maternity Ward.

The officials presented each mother with a baby gift box on behalf of the TRHA.

The Tobago Regional Health Authority extends best wishes to the families and celebrates the joy of new beginnings as the island welcomes its first babies for 2026.
