TPP Promises Scarborough Secondary Construction In 2026

One of the priority projects for the Tobago People’s Party once elected into office on January 12th is the start of construction of the Scarborough Secondary school.

Another announcement from TPP Leader Farley Augustine at the launch of their plans for the next four years.

The sod was turned in January 2024 for the Scarborough Secondary project, however to date no construction works have commenced.

According to Mr. Augustine, this longstanding matter is at the top of their list.

“In this year 2026 this TPP administration will commence construction of the Scarborough Secondary school. Tobago generally has very good physical plants by comparison with other jurisdictions but we cant have teachers everyday, students going to school wondering if the school will be there the next day. It can’t be when rough seas come a piece of the land drop down in the sea and every time the THA build a building it falling a part. We are prioritising the construction of Scarborough Secondary school.”

Keeping on their plans for education was the Roxborough Secondary school.

Mr. Augustine informed that greater focus will be placed on vocational training at this institution.

“We are going to keep Roxborough Secondary school as a secondary school so the teachers you are retained. Students still sent there from SEA but we are going to add another layer in that space. We are going to allow for that space to provide technical vocational education all the way up to the university level. We are going to integrate both campuses the Trade School and the Roxborough Secondary school.”
