Police Units Step Up Training For Carnival 2026

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Mounted and Canine Branch and the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB) Public Order Team have begun preparations for the Carnival season.

Recently, both units carried out a Horse-Scaring Exercise, a controlled simulation designed to condition service horses to remain calm and responsive when confronted with loud noises, amplified music, large crowds, and other high-stimulus environments synonymous with Carnival.

The exercise aims to:

  • Prepare horses to safely handle noise and crowd pressure.
  • Improve coordination between the Mounted Unit and Public Order Team.
  • Strengthen communication and teamwork during operations.
  • Enhance joint readiness for Carnival and other public order situations.

The TTPS says it remains committed to ensuring its public order teams are fully prepared and coordinated for Carnival 2026 and future events.
