St Margaret’s Boys’ Anglican Wins Primary Schools’ Panorama Title, Holy Faith Convent Penal Takes Secondary Schools Title

The riddim of the bass, the strum of the guitar, and the melody of the tenor brought the tempo to Skinner Park in San Fernando on Monday for the National Schools’ Panorama Finals for Primary and Secondary Schools.

Students from 12 Primary schools and 11 Secondary schools participated in the event.

Education Minister Dr. Michael Dowlath stressed the importance of music as a teacher, healer, and part of our identity, especially through the tones of the national instrument. He also highlighted the importance of music as a powerful educational tool, not an extra curriculum luxury.

“Music strengthens your ability to critically think, your cognitive abilities. It improves literacy and numeracy. It builds discipline and teamwork. And so, whether in the panyard or in the classroom, students learn patience, they learn collaboration, they learn leadership and resilience.”

The Primary Schools were up first, and while the competition was stiff, one school stood out. With their interpretation of ‘Year for Love’ by Aaron ‘Voice’ St. Louis, St Margaret’s Boys’ Anglican School ran away with the title, earning 279 points.

Separated by 13 points, Febeau Government Primary School placed second with another Voice hit, ‘Play Ah Mas.’ In third place was San Fernando Boys RC School with a classic calypso by Explainer, ‘Lorraine.’

In the Secondary Schools category, Holy Faith Convent Penal took home the 2026 title with a sweet rendition of “Live Yuh Life (Like Yuh Playing Mas)” by Kes the Band. Holy Faith scored 274 points to take the trophy.
