Overwhelming Response: Government Extends Deadline For Revitalisation Blueprint

The government will extend the closing date for expressions of interest for the Trinidad and Tobago Revitalisation Blueprint.

Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John made the announcement on Wednesday, saying that the response to the Trinidad and Tobago Revitalisation Programme was overwhelming.

Originally scheduled to close at 2pm on January 22nd, 2026, the deadline for tenders to be submitted for the 129 projects on the slate is now extended to February 5th, 2026, at 4pm.

“That expression of interest was supposed to be closed on Thursday, tomorrow, right, okay, so I just announced that it is going to be extended for the next two weeks because they have had so many requests for an extension, okay. We were really going to be very stiff-necked about it because we have some rigid timelines going forward because if we don’t do it, it just will not get done. So we have now extended it to the 5th of February, but after that all of the other timelines remain fixed.”

Minister John noted that UDeCOTT confirmed the high demand of applicants coming in through its online portal.

“We’ve been getting so many requests for an extension because people can’t catch themselves. Let me just tell you something. If we closed this tomorrow, this would be oversubscribed. Oversubscribed, what they say, short of demand. This has big demand inside of it. I am almost certain every single project is taken five and six and ten times over.”

The Minister noted that another project will be rolled out in the first quarter of 2026, providing additional real estate for more industrial enterprises.

“Plipdeco, they are going to be the next rollout in about a month’s time, and they are going on a very big expansion programme, subject to their shareholders and the Cabinet’s approval, and they’re also going to be assigned another 700 acres of industrial land, and that is really to push that manufacturing sector further.”

Minister John made her comments as she addressed the American Chamber’s Outlook Economic Forum 2026 on Wednesday.
