The media fraternity is in mourning today following the passing of a veteran of the lens.
TTT Limited’s very own Phil Britton, a long-serving cameraman based in South Trinidad, has died.
Phil was known not just for his technical skill but for a tireless work ethic that saw him through decades of reporting.
For those who worked alongside him in the field, Phil Britton was more than just a cameraman; he was a standard-bearer for dedication.
He was stationed in the South Bureau for much of his career.
Colleagues remember him as a man who would make every effort to get the shot, regardless of the challenges. He excelled in training new cameramen.
Phil’s passing leaves a significant void in the TTT family and the wider media landscape of Trinidad and Tobago. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and a deep passion for the craft of visual storytelling.
Former Group Head of News at CCN Ltd, Dominic Kallipersad, said that Phil started out with a zeal and enthusiasm that never diminished. In elaborating on his passing, he said Phil had an intimate understanding of the South and dedicated his work to capturing the highs and lows of life in southern Trinidad. His humble yet confident approach strengthened the credibility of videographers as journalists and highlighted the value of their contributions.
Mr. Kallipersad said his passing is a sad loss to the media and the country he served so well.
