Recovery Efforts Officially End For Rig 110 Worker Pete Phillip

More than a year after the collapse of Rig 110 at sea, Well Services Petroleum has confirmed the remains of missing worker Pete Phillip have not been found, and recovery operations have officially ended.

For over a year, crews from Trinidad and Tobago and specialist teams from abroad carried out complex salvage operations on the damaged Well Services Rig 110, in search of the remains of Mr. Phillip.

On December 22nd, 2024, Rig 110, owned and operated by Well Services and located within the Heritage Offshore East Field, partially collapsed with 75 personnel on board. Employee Pete Phillip was the only one not accounted for and was subsequently presumed dead.

A month after the incident, in January 2025, Phase 2 of the operation intensified, bringing divers, engineers, and technical experts into offshore conditions.

But today, the company confirmed that Mr. Phillip’s remains have not been recovered, and with nowhere else to search and having exhausted all avenues, the company has made the decision to abandon any further attempt to locate Mr. Phillip’s remains.

The outcome, as described by Well Services, is “deeply distressing” for all parties concerned, adding that its thoughts remain firmly with Mr. Phillip’s family during this incredibly difficult time.

Well Services confirmed that it has conveyed this latest development to his family.

The company has pledged continued support – counselling, resources, and ongoing communication – saying their engagement will remain rooted in compassion, transparency, and respect.
