Tobago police are investigating an incident involving men believed to be members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) that left one man seriously injured.
Police say the incident followed a vehicular accident along Milford Road, Crown Point, on Monday morning. The men, who were reportedly in civilian clothing, allegedly assaulted Kevon Lewis.
Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk said officers from the Crown Point Police Station have been instructed to conduct a full investigation. He noted that police were unable to obtain a statement from Lewis at the hospital due to heavy sedation.
A relative told TTT News that Mr. Lewis, an employee of the Scarborough General Hospital, was involved in an argument with four men said to be TTDF officers after the collision. Mr. Lewis reportedly ran to a nearby home for help but was pursued, dragged back onto the roadway, and assaulted.
Emergency responders and police were later contacted by bystanders. Lewis sustained a fractured arm, multiple bruises, abdominal injuries, and the loss of three teeth.
