Minister of Education, Dr. Michael Dowlath, has applauded the Ministry of Culture and Community Development’s work with his Ministry to produce several cultural competitions for students across the country.
This came as he opened the Junior Soca Monarch Competition in South Trinidad on Tuesday at the Southern Academy for Performing Arts.
“I eagerly anticipate even greater and more dynamic performances. Performances that will carry us to new heights in terms of the culture, not just of our schools but our nation, because we are being livestreamed and everyone around the world will be looking on at us.”
Two winners emerged from the day’s competition. The monarch in the Primary School category is Kymani Hector Kalloo of St Peter’s RC Primary School, and the Secondary School category champion is Marcus McDonald of Presentation College in San Fernando.
