Minister Highlights Carnival Crowds As Sign Of Economic Momentum

With Carnival in full swing, Minister of Finance Davendranath Tancoo says the season is a strong sign that Trinidad and Tobago’s economy is gaining momentum.

Speaking at Fyzabad Carnival City, he highlighted packed mas bands, fully booked hotels, and sold-out j’ouvert events as evidence that economic activity is on the rise.

Minister Tancoo emphasised that Carnival drives income across a wide range of sectors.

He praised both public and private stakeholders for their organisation, ingenuity, and dedication in making the celebrations a success.

The Minister said Government is committed to continued investment in cultural events, ensuring that there are options for all price ranges, including free performances like Flava Village at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

He linked the festivities to broader economic recovery and pointed to a positive International Monetary Fund review that highlighted stability, low inflation, and renewed investor confidence.
