While no incidents were reported during Monday’s Jouvert celebrations in Tobago, law enforcement officers confiscated several items from revellers.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Michael Pierre, in a social media video, explained that roadblock exercises were conducted. The exercise is being termed “Securing the Vibes.”
“In preparation for persons to come into the celebratory areas and safely conduct their exercise of enjoyment. We would have seized several items from persons, like knives, cutlasses, and other such items, to prevent any untoward violence into the areas.”
He noted that Monday’s celebrations were quiet, and officers were out in their numbers to ensure Tobago’s Carnival is a safe one.
