PC Warded After Sangre Grande Fall; Anti-Crime Raids Seize 8.92 kg Cannabis

A police constable attached to the Sangre Grande Police Station is currently warded at hospital following an incident at the station compound on Friday. Reports indicate that around 4:30 pm, the officer may have fallen from a height on the eastern side of the station onto a marked police vehicle.

He is said to have sustained severe head and facial injuries and was initially taken to the Sangre Grande General Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he remains warded in critical condition.

In a separate matter, one man was arrested and quantities of cannabis seized during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Central and Northern Divisions on the same day. Between 10 am and 2 pm, officers of the Central Division Task Force, acting on intelligence, proceeded to the Mt. Hope district, where they arrested a 25-year-old man of San Juan.

He was found in possession of 1.02 kilogrammes of marijuana.

Meanwhile, officers of the Northern Division’s Area North Task Force conducted an exercise between 2 pm and 6:30 pm in Brazil Village, where they discovered 15 packages containing a total of 7.9 kilogrammes of cannabis inside a panel van.
Investigations are continuing.
