Officers attached to the Port of Spain Division arrested a foreign national and seized a quantity of suspected ketamine during a targeted anti-narcotics exercise on Friday.
Between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., officers acted on intelligence indicating that an individual was allegedly in possession of narcotics at a hotel along the Eastern Main Road in Arouca.
Around 10:40 a.m., officers went to the location and were granted access to a room occupied by the suspect.
Officers conducted a search of a blue suitcase inside the room and reportedly found three transparent plastic bags containing suspected ketamine, concealed within a blue neck pillow.
The suspect, described as a male foreign national from Suriname, was cautioned and arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug. He was subsequently taken to the Besson Street Police Station along with the seized items.
The substance has been secured and is expected to undergo forensic testing. Investigations are continuing.
