Minister Swaratsingh Leads T&T Delegation To IDB Meetings In Paraguay

The Honourable Kennedy Swaratsingh, Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development and Minister in the Ministry of Finance, is leading Trinidad and Tobago’s delegation to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meetings currently taking place in Asunción, Paraguay.

The meetings, which run from March 11th to 14th, 2026, include the 66th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank and the 40th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest).

Minister Swaratsingh is attending in his capacity as Governor for Trinidad and Tobago on the Boards of Governors of the IDB and IDB Invest.

The Trinidad and Tobago delegation reflects a coordinated effort between the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development and the Ministry of Finance, signalling what is described as a strengthened whole-of-government approach to engagement with Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs). The collaboration is aimed at ensuring the country maximises the strategic and developmental benefits available through its membership in the IDB.

Members of the delegation include Omatee Geawan-Ramdass, Counsellor for Trinidad and Tobago in the Office of the Executive Director for the Caribbean Constituency; Karen Boodan, Senior Legal Advisor at the Ministry of Finance; and Renika Huggins, Debt Economic Analyst in the Debt Management Division of the Ministry of Finance.

According to Minister Swaratsingh, the annual meetings present an opportunity for Trinidad and Tobago to strengthen engagement with its longest-standing development finance partner. These discussions will address matters of strategic importance to Trinidad and Tobago, including development financing options, debt management strategies, and opportunities to deepen partnerships that support the country’s development agenda.
