1,500 Residents To Benefit From New Housing In La Horquetta/Talparo

Fifteen hundred residents of the La Horquetta/Talparo constituency are expected to benefit from a new housing development.

This was revealed by the Member of Parliament, Phillip Watts, who says the project is set to begin soon.

According to the MP, there is a growing need for both housing and employment opportunities in the constituency and plans are already in motion to address those concerns.

Speaking with TTT News, he revealed that hundreds of new homes will soon be constructed in the area.

“Through the HDC, they would have sent out tenders for housing and fortunately for me, some of those packages fall into my constituency for design, build, finance. So we are going to embark on construction of 1,500 new homes. Which I will ensure, after I develop my youths, they get the job. They will be able to qualify for HDC homes. So we’re connecting the dots again as to how close I’m working with the youths and the long-term plan and vision for them.”

MP Watts added that the housing project will also play a major role in reducing unemployment within the constituency by prioritising local labour.

“This is where now we are going to pick up, damp up most of the labour in the construction sector with the tradesmen in the constituency. So you’ll have electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and masons being employed in that particular project in the constituency. So shortly we shouldn’t have any labour issues in the constituency.”

In addition to housing and job creation, the Member of Parliament noted that infrastructure improvements are also being targeted.

“I’m working very closely with the Minister of Works and Infrastructure to have most of the roads paved in the constituency and the government is moving the country in a direction where you will start to see economic growth. You will start seeing that economic turnaround shortly.”

Mr. Watts shared these details during an exclusive interview with TTT News.
