Recognising The Signs Of Child Abuse: A Conversation With Marcus Kissoon

Marcus Kissoon, Caribbean scholar-activist and Ph.D. candidate in Interdisciplinary Childhood Studies at Rutgers University, joins Virmala to discuss recognising the warning signs of child abuse and the importance of protecting children’s rights and wellbeing.

Drawing on his work with feminist movements and the University of the West Indies’ Break the Silence campaign, he explores the role of parents, teachers, communities and support agencies in identifying distress, responding to bullying, and ensuring children receive the care they need.

The discussion also highlights the importance of early reporting, responsible public response during ongoing investigations, and collaborative efforts to strengthen child protection in Trinidad and Tobago.
