Prime Minister Extends Easter Greetings, Calls For Unity And Reflection

Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC is extending Easter greetings to the Christian community, as the nation observes one of the holiest periods on the calendar.

In her Easter message, the Prime Minister acknowledged the significant role of the Christian community in national development, highlighting contributions in areas such as education, healthcare, charity, and moral leadership.

She noted that Easter is a time of deep spiritual reflection, marked by the journey of Holy Week — from Holy Thursday and the commemoration of the Last Supper, to Good Friday, which signifies the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and culminating in the celebration of His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the resurrection represents hope overcoming despair and life triumphing over death, urging citizens to be guided by values of humility, compassion, and service.

She also reminded citizens that while Easter is a sacred time, it is also a period for family gatherings and recreation, and called for responsibility and caution, especially in public spaces.

The Prime Minister noted that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and other protective agencies will maintain a strong presence to ensure public safety, and appealed for public cooperation.

She concluded by encouraging national reflection, prayer, and renewed commitment to unity and responsibility, while extending best wishes for a safe, peaceful, and blessed Easter to all citizens.
